IT'S A SUNNY DECEMBER IN VALENCIA

The weather is still great with blue skies but temperatures have dropped and it is now a little nippy in the wind! There are a host of events coming up and we will be uploading them as we get more information - so keep coming back

Christmas in the City

Circus

Valencia is awash with circus this month - not as many as planned as the Ringling Bros decided to pull out after protests from animal Welfare groups. So we are down to three:

Gran Circo Wonderland is at Plaza de Toros from 3 December to 17 January.

Gran Circo Mundial are once again by the Puente de Flores in the riverbed 06 December to 11 January

Circo Gran Fele present their latest Spectacular 'Tarzan Aqui no Sale' Based on Edgar Rice Burroughs classic adventures from 12 December to 10 January in front of the Palau de les Arts.

Opera

Film director Mariusz Trelińs directs the next Opera at the Pala de les Arts, Madame Butterfly , by the Polish Teatr Wielki of Warsaw was a huge success at La Scala premieres here on the 9 December. Subsequent performaces are on the following days 12, 15, 18, 22, 27 & 30 and 03 January.

Belén - the Nativity.

After the enormous success of last year's Nativity Scene in the Cathedral when over 350,000 people queued to see it, it is back from tomorrow and it is bigger and better and consists of over 2600 pieces!

PopArt

Takashi Murakami, the Avant-Garde Japanese artist has an exhibition of his lithographs a curious and interesting mix of traditional Japanese painting techniques and modern art. The controversial exhibition runs until 29 December at La Llotgeta of the Caja de Ahorros del Mediterraneo (CAM) to the left of the Mercado Central.

Strong rumours today that Alinghi have decided to begin the move to Valencia, even prior to the NYC courts Decision. They expect to be here by 23 December
Team Alinghi had agreed that the America’s Cup ‘Deed of Gift’ series would, after all, take place in Valencia next February, but went back to court to try and reverse the decision - again.The series will be fought by Cup defenders Team Alinghi against BMW Oracle, who challenged the Swiss team following the uproar resulting from Alinghi’s selection of a ‘tame’ Spanish challenger in July 2007. The ensuing litigation has dragged on through two and a quarter years and 8 court hearings. here..
