In this tiny plaza, just behind the famous La Lonja (the world heritage building that was once the silk exchange), is this small, slightly grotty bar that probably serves the best Spanish food in El Carmen. Dhaba Indian restaurant and cocktail bar Plaza Don Juan de Villarrasa 6. 96 391 0019 Here's a real find, in the square behind the Central Market, a smart and attractive restaurant serving authentic Indian food. It is also a cocktail bar at night and is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. At lunchtime they offer a selection of Thalis, little dishes served on a tray with bread and a poppadum. A great and very tasty way of sampling the menu for 14€ a head. **

100 Montaditos Plaza de la Reina, 10. Probably the quickest and cheapest way to eat out with! Tiny baguettes with 100 (ironically) different fillings to choose from, for a euro each! Each tray comes with a ridiculous amount of crisps, the best part is writing your name on the order slip. The names get sillier and sillier as the night goes on. No reservations are taken so get there early as it really does get busy! *
