thisisvalencia.com If you are visiting Valencia and don't fancy staying in a large hotel, but prefer to stay in rooms, a flat, or indeed, in the beautiful countryside nearby, we are here to help. We have put together a list of recommended bed and breakfasts, small hotels and suites. We have personally visited the following list and are confident that you will be happy to stay in these fine establishments ... The links will open an email to the establishment - tell them your dates and how many in your party and they will get back to you directly. The list, by the way, will grow over the next weeks and months, so keep checking back, and if you can't find what you are looking for on these pages drop us an email (info@thisisvalencia.com) telling us what you want, how many in the party, budget and dates and we will find it for you. If, on the other hand, you prefer a real hotel in the centre of Valencia and beyond click the banner to the right - excellent prices and deals. REVIEW Chullilla is a fine example of the typical Spanish white village you expect to find all over Spain and the Communidad Valenciana. Chulilla nestles some 300m above sea level in the mountains of Los Serranos in one of the most intricate areas of the Mountain regions of Spain, all around are spectacular views, precipices and ravines with delightful rivers and rock pool running through the valleys, In summer months a dip in these fresh and cooling waters is an absolute joy! Chullilla is a favourite of walkers and hill climbers and has a lot to offer the visitor; at the centre of the village is a lovely square to while the time away and people watch, and close by, a selection of very good eateries offering all types of fayre. from everyday tapas bars to restaurants offering excellent, often, gourmet cuisine, and those amazing views. There is even a balneario, or spa, offering all kinds of water therapy and relaxation treatments. On our recent visit to Chulilla we stayed at La Casa Serena, a casa rural run by a charming couple Peter and Richard who converted it from a village house over seven years ago and offer their guests a comfortable and delightful place to stay. La Casa Serena is to be found down the winding narrow streets at the bottom of the village and has views across the valley that are quite stunning, we were lucky enough to have the pretty Sunflower Room (each of the five guest rooms has a different theme) which has double windows that offer the best views of the house across the valley - just divine to wake up and go to bed to. In the morning we were served a delicious breakfast of cheese, tomato, toast and (huge) muffins and some good fresh coffee on the terrace - lovely, one couldn't ask for more. A ten minute walk up through the village, taking in the architecture of Chulilla is lovely and interesting, for hikers, cyclers or just for a little break away. Casa Serena offers all home comforts. Though they like to serve you your breakfast, Peter and Richard encourage you to treat La Casa Serena as you would your own home, with full use of the kitchen if you want to make your own lunch and dinner. (They do not offer lunch or dinner - preferring you to use the facilities!) There is plenty of space to sit and chill - on the fabulous terrace or in the attractive lounge/diner. There is even a basement games room. Peter and Richard clearly love Chulilla have excellent local knowledge, so if you want to know where to go and what to see they are a mine of interesting and useful information. We highly recommend La Casa Serena La Casa Serena |
